It's no secret by now that you'll know we've all been at home the last few days. We're gutted but we're not gonna let that keep us down!
Room 7 and Ruapotaka School's Home Learning officially kicked off today. After a week away from each other in class, it was really great to see ourselves in today's class Google Meetings. We're enjoying the sleep ins, staying up late, more time with family and change of pace. We all agreed that we definitely miss the face to face conversations with friends and teachers, and learning in a classroom.
Kahoot! became a regular occurence in our last online meetings, so much so I forgot all about it! I was able to cue up a couple of games, and if you know us, we're Marvel fans ... the scores in our first game didn't show this though. We've got some sharpening up to do so I might need to assign a Marvel film study.

| Yes, Room 7, who is this?? |
Our last Cybersmart session was with Mr Goodwin, who showed us how to create our own 8-bit art. Everyone had to create Mario first before making their own creations. We had some really cool examples from Hone, Jairus and Willie, just to name a few. The pic below is one Renei and I worked on together.

ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting and your kind words. I'm sure Miss McCombie has also got you doing some other fun things while online, your class' learning looks really engaging and exciting.
Mr Goodwin advised us to start with something easy and I thought it was really awesome that we start with an original 8-bit character like Mario. It's a bit hard for me to pick other favourites because my class came up with some great examples.
It took maybe 20-30mins just to make Mario but I think with more practise I could do it in less time.
The other Y7&8 teacher in our school, Mrs Cardoza in Room 1, told me how to play "Elimination" at the end of our meetings. That has been a fun game to play.
Hope you guys are all safe in your bubble!
